Heishi beads are the latest trend this summer. Whether you choose to use natural tones or bright colors, they allow you to create little pieces of jewelry in the blink of an eye to wear all summer long. 

Good news! These pearls are compatible with swimming in the sea, swimming pool chlorine, etc. They are made of polymer clay, a solid and durable material, dyed throughout. 

Where do Heishi beads come from?

Heishi beads (pronounced hii-chi) originate from New Mexico, and mean "shell". These small discs were originally made of shell and natural stones. The sculptors of Santo Domingo make heishi beads by taking the raw material, then cutting it into small strips. The tiny squares are then individually drilled. Threaded together, they are then sanded to round their shape and make pretty little discs. A long-term artisanal work! These sculptor artisans then make magnificent traditional necklaces and ornaments.

The pearls that we offer you are industrially made, which allows us to have a mini price and very thin washers. However, the thickness of the pearl can vary slightly.
